The Urbanscapes is Malaysia’s premier annual creative arts festival. It was started way back in 2002 and this year was their 10th anniversary. The line up was pretty sick, but everyone was excited about seeing the headliners of the festival which were Yuna on Day 1 and Sigur Ros on Day 2. I only made it for the second day but boy was it awesome!! It felt really relaxed and chilled out, unlike Rockaway 2012. I was also performing that day with Mochasoul which is a jazz/poetry thing I have going on. A lot of bands performed on Day 2, but my favourites were Trees and the Wild, Circle of Sound, White Shoes and the Couples Company and of course the headliner Sigur Ros.
During the day the weather was fair, but at night it started raining and things got hectic. We had to cover up our gear with some plastic to protect the lenses and also wear raincoats but the worst of all was the mud. One thing I will definitely remember to bring to a gig thats outdoors is some boots. That said, Urbsascapes 2012 was a great success. Lighting was pretty fantastic als,o used my triple combo, 70-200mm f/4.0, 18-55mm kit and 50mm plastic fantastic.
Tip : If you’re a photographer who having a hard time getting into gigs, try going as an artist. It worked for me!
